What is a health coach?
Our health coaches hold respected credentials like registered dietitian certifications, master’s degrees in nutrition, and certifications in health coaching from accredited institutions and universities. They also have additional functional medicine training and are experts in functional nutrition and lifestyle, which means they can partner with our doctors to find the best way to treat the root of your persistent symptoms with nutrition, exercise, stress management, and supplements.
Most of our health coaches studied the science of behavior change and motivational interviewing in their degree program or additional certifications. This allows them to best support members in making long-term lifestyle changes to benefit their health and wellness goals.
In addition, every health coach at Parsley goes through extensive training with the Parsley Health Fellowship during their onboarding, regardless of their previous training. This training includes:
- A 12-week clinical fellowship with deep educational modules around topics like the gastrointestinal system, endocrine system, autoimmunity, female hormone health and fertility, cardiometabolic health, and mental health taught from both the doctor and health coach perspective.
- Learning modules to understand the flow of patient visits, observe case studies, and conduct mock case studies themselves, shadowed by a mentoring practitioner. They are scored on these mock cases and have live feedback discussions with their mentor about their performance.
- Comprehensive testing on their knowledge after the completion of the fellowship.
